Dragon Award
It’s tough, challenging and a big commitment - do you measure up??
The whole idea is to sleep under canvas at least one night per calendar month. You don't have to complete a stage within one calendar year, you can spend as many years as necessary to get any part. If you miss a month, sorry, you will have to wait until the same month next year to complete the missed camp, that’s tough.
Just one night, it does not matter where, so long as it is under canvas, or in a bivvy. The back garden will do. You may even decide to build a campsite, complete with tents inside your normal meeting place!
Or how about a camp that has the first night in one months, and the second night in another?
You can start the Silver Award as soon as you have completed the Bronze. Likewise with the Gold Award. For the Silver ensure each camp is taken from the list on your card, leaving 12 different camps for the Gold.
Don’t think it is a pushover, the Dragon Award is a challenge, requiring a big commitment.
When you have completed an award, send your record Card to your Assistant Area Commissioner, stating clearly the Award achieved, not forgetting your name and address. The badge is worn on the right sleeve just below the Patrol Badge. Only the highest Award should be worn on your uniform.
The Award started in January 1998, so any camps held since that date should count. Remember the Award is open to Scouts, Explorer Scouts, members of the Network and Leaders of any section.
You can get a yellow record card from your AAC (who can get it from the Welsh Scout Council) or you can print out your own record card (PDF, 159kB)!
