Moss Scouts cook up a win
Posted 26 June 2008
A team of Scouts from 1st Moss, Wrexham faced stiff competition from across Wales to win this year's cooking competition at the All-Wales Scout Camp.
The competition was open to all Scout groups in Wales, and was done on a Ready Steady Cook format, with the teams all being given the same bag of items at the start. The team had just one hour to prepare and serve a three course meal, to a high standard, on only a two-ring camping stove.
To make things even more challenging, all planning, food preparation, cooking and washing up was done in the open air.
Five teams from all over Wales took part during the camp at Builth Wells on Saturday 21 June.
The team served up a fresh vegetable soup, followed by lemon butterfly breast of turkey on a bed of soy noodles with wild mushrooms and sugar snap peas. The desert was a meringue base topped with fresh sliced plums, melon and orange.
The judges commented "the team worked extremely well together. The planning and preparation was outstanding, and washing of hands, cutlery and table top was done meticulously. The food was served hot, despite windy conditions, and the butterfly turkey was a delight. Overall, an outstanding achievement, well done"
Congratulations to the team for a brilliant achievement.
