Welsh Beaver Scout Award
What is the purpose of the award?
To raise the Beaver Scouts' awareness of their Welsh heritage.
What do we have to do to gain the award?
The award is a colony based challenge to be completed within a 12-month period.
There are six elements comprising the award.
To gain an award, the colony must:
- Complete the Wales and Outdoor & Adventure elements by participating in two activities from each.
- Choose three of the following elements, and complete two activities from each;
- Awareness
- Environment
- Arts
- Fun
- Friends
Each element will have a list of recommended areas of development, looking at the Welsh dimension, but feel free to add activities of your own that match the theme. These elements are designed to be incorporated into your colony meetings and to link to the Programme zones and challenge badges.
Getting started
- Purchase an award pack or download below
- Register with your AAC (or nominee) and agree a start date, using the registration form from the Award Pack;
- Keep evidence of activities completed (AAC can request to see this) and your colony record;
- Complete all activities within 12 months of the start date;
- Submit your colony record and evidence to your ADC Beaver Scouts or local equivalent;
- Forward the colony record (signed by ADC or similar) and a cheque for badges to your AAC Beaver Scouts;
- Arrange a badge presentation and use it as a profile raiser with parents, press and other groups.
How do we register?
Contact your AAC Beaver Scouts with a completed registration form.
How do we record progress?
- Keep a colony scrapbook, video or something similar to show what you have done.
- Complete the colony record showing what you did and how you did it.
We've done it! How do we get our award?
Pass your completed scrap book/ other material to your ADC or other nominee, who will sign your colony record. Forward it to your AAC with a request and cheque for badges. Once you receive your badges, a presentation can be organised.
What do we get?
Each Beaver Scout will receive a badge which is to be worn on the right hand front of the sweatshirt, with the challenge badges. The badge can be worn until the Beaver Scout leaves the colony
What costs are involved?
The colony pays for an award pack, (or you can download a copy below), and the purchase of a badge for every Beaver Scout taking part.
Is there a time limit?
The Award should be completed within 12 months of registering.
